A rapper from the streets of Twinlakes Norton Maccy began his journey at a tender age and is surely destined for greatness in the Norton Hip Hop Indusrty.
BIOGRAPHY AND DISCOGRAPHY:
Ashley Tatenda Makutsi was born on 28th of November 1996.He's the first born in a family of three.Ashley is now known by his Stage Name Maccy which comes from an English word Mercy when pronouncing it.He grew up in dusty streets of Mabvuku then later on he moved to Norton in Twinlakes with his Father because his parents were divorced.Also did his Primary Education at David Livingstone and his Secondary Education he switched a lot,First it was St Eric high school in Norton ,Herentials college CBD/Herentials College Mabvuku and Victory College in Norton.Experienced a lot of struggles during his childhood like the separation of his parents,having to move in with grandparents who had nothing just to mention a few But he had the other side of him he couldn't show anyone because of fear of rejection and people judging him.Music was the only thing that calmed him although that time he didn't know how script lyrics or write what he felt.When he moved to Norton and started making friends ,he became more attached to the streets and he had some friends who shared the same dream with him like Lenon Sande (G.I from Vavhimi),Remember Kandoto (ATM from Vavhimi),Edward Cheza (Wardo now Dancehall kheddah),joseph kadewere (jay former Vavhimi),Tinotenda Mtengwa (T wayne Mr Tbs),Allan (Holly Misky Tbs) etc..Those people became brothers to him and taught him a thing or two about music.So the journey started.
His first track was titled GUM KUM which featured Teekay,wardo and cassy who were strong lyricist that time and the track was an anthem because it was authentic and talked about what was happening in hood that time..That way he saw and knew that he wanted to take his music serious as career because of the positive feedback he was getting from people.He went on kept writing but not recording because his father didn't see eye to eye with and disapproved the whole thing.Then Tmk came into play he had to sign with them so he did so but the track they recorded together never made it and was never heard by the streets because of some reasons that he didn't personally get.
After few years he decided to move to S.A with his mother .That's when he recorded his first solo track titled We own it which did well but that time he had no fan base to boost it but that didn't stop him so he went on , dropped his hit single SAUCE featuring S.k his primary school class mate and the track is currently on HOT 97 leaderboards in the states , and was also nominated for Viewer's Choice at the 2017 Norton Hip Hop Awards.
He realesed few tracks after that like GIVE YOU which dropped on his second year anniversary with his Fiancee,THE PLATE,PROUD OF ME which had the bars and the truth about where he is going with his career and I WISH .
He has worked with different producers from Capetown and shared the stage with most rappers too.Maccy never stopped and made waves which landed him another Norton Hip Hop Nominee at the awards last year on the newly introduced category Best Ambassador Intenationally.
The rapper is working on a 2019 project titled (Triple F).
The twenty two track album Triple F(Facts,favours & Fears) is basically telling stories about what i went through to get here, what I'm facing right now and what people go through on a daily basis.i had to do something which is solid and write what people can relate to because i personally think music can heal, inspire and motivate people in different ways.That's why i have a few artist featured on the album,had to make a wise decision because if you look and listen to each track on the album is talking about something different so i had to pick the right people to feature on it like Elly Gold,lenny from Cpt,S.k from Cpt and Vavhimi not yet confirmed ...so all i can say is expect something different and authentic.
